About Architecture Lens
Welcome to Architecture Lens, my new blog devoted entirely to the world of architectural photography. My name is Christian Scully, and I am an architectural photographer, fortunate enough to be graduating next year from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, one of, if not the, top schools in the country for a technical photography education.
If you are like me, you have a strange addiction to architecture. You can’t walk or drive by a structure without examining its unique shapes, patterns, and lines. You see things that most people pass by every day and don’t recognize. And if you are a photographer, you not only notice these details, but you frame them in your mind and thing, “that would make a nice image” . You look for the most interesting angle as you pass by, and in the right light you think “if only I had my camera.”
This blog is for you, and also for me. I love a reason to stay up to date in current happenings in architectural photography. I love to view and critique work of photographers unknown to me. I love to speak with different photographers and get there insight on techniques in architectural photography, as well as the business and marketing side of things. And most importantly, I love to learn more about the actual architecture, the proper terms and definitions, so I can speak with an architect and really know what I am talking about. This blog is my opportunity to do that and to share what I find and learn with anyone else with a passion for architecture and photography.
Some things to note about the blog:
1. Every week there will be an “architectural term of the week.” This is to get us thinking about specific terminology we need to know as architectural photographers, in order to communicate fluently with architects.
2. I truly believe in “green” or environmentally conscious design and construction. Thus I will be posting green designs and projects that are gorgeous and very interesting to me.
3. I will be posting well written articles about all aspects of architectural photography, from business to staging, to editing, lighting and composition. Everything I have learned and will continue to learn will be documented and explained here.
4. I constantly come across inspiring architectural photographers on the web. Some of these photographers I will be interviewing so we all can learn from them. And some I will save on my Delicious page. So just click on the Delicious link on the sidebar and you can view interesting things I find across the WWW.
5. I have just added comments to the blog. I would love for readers of Architecture lens to be engaged in the discussion of architectural photography. Feel free to agree, disagree, critique, add to or just say you love it! to any of the articles or posts. I would love to hear what you think and have this be an active blog!
6. To go along with that, please be respectful of all the readers and the blog in general.
7. If you want to follow me and the blog on Twitter I am @christianscully.
8. If you want me to see some work that you have shot, and have me critique it and possibly publish it on the blog, just go to http://www.architecturelens.com/submit .

Thank you for checking it out and I hope you learn something!
